Project: 1.8’’ and 2.5’’ hard disks servo system. Work scope: Worked as Staff Engineer in Servo/Mecha team. Work included design of HDD servo subsystem with main focus on shock and vibration protection solutions. Developed algorithms to prevent shock/vibration impact on HDD head movement including deployment of free-fall sensor (first in the industry) and rotary vibration compensator. Developed and applied algorithms of servo control in numerous models of 2.5’’ HDD. Mathematical modeling of dynamic systems using LTSpice/Matlab/Simulink. Control algorithms design and tuning, including all classical and novel approaches, such as frequency analysis, state-space control, PID, adaptive controllers, robust controllers (Hinf and H2), non-linear control, observers design, sliding-mode control, feed-forward controllers etc. Design and tuning of hardware filters, including passive RC filters and active op amp – based filters. Digital filters design (FIR/IIR in transversal/lattice forms, various adaptive technics). Microcontroller programming (ARM/Teaklite) in C/Asm for implementation of control algorithms. Anti-shock solutions development, which is the most critical part of HDD mechanics. Free-fall sensors, shock sensors and rotary vibration sensors application development in mechanical, electrical and software parts. Anti-vibration solutions development. Developed add-on observers and controllers to reduce linear/rotary vibration impact on the HDD head positioning. Mass production ramp-up and failure analysis. Close work with manufacturing team to quickly solve any servo-related issues that are possible during mass production. Customer satisfaction and support. Worked closely with customer satisfaction team to solve and support any customers’ needs. Implemented and maintained specific customized features for big customers. Supported customers’ needs in numerous business trips.

Project: Pneumatic valve positioning system. Work scope: Work included developing linear control system for a valve positioner and implementation of the algorithms using MSP430 microcontroller. Mathematical modeling of dynamic systems using Matlab/Simulink. Control algorithms design and tuning using model predictive control algorithm and classical PID controller. Implementation of the control algorithm using MSP430 C/Assembler.
