Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead comprehensive cloud migration engagements, developing tailored Azure migration strategies based on business requirements, technical constraints, and financial considerations.
- Conduct thorough application cloud suitability and readiness assessments, identifying necessary architectural modifications to ensure optimal cloud performance.
- Lead application design refactoring initiatives to enhance cloud compatibility and maximize Azure platform benefits.
- Perform detailed workload inventory analysis of on-premises environments, gathering critical performance metrics and developing accurate workload cost projections.
- Assess and analyze on-premises database servers, designing optimal migration paths to Azure Data services including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Synapse Analytics.
- Develop comprehensive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) comparisons, highlighting potential cost savings and ROI opportunities from Azure migration.
- Create detailed documentation for landing zone configurations, ensuring secure and efficient deployment of targeted Azure services.
- Function as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud migration, providing technical leadership and guidance throughout project lifecycles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between migrated applications and existing cloud infrastructure.
- Implement and optimize disaster recovery solutions using Azure's native tooling to ensure business continuity during and after migration.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and DevOps practices.
- Demonstrable expertise with disaster recovery and migration strategies on Azure, including proficient use of Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery for both DR implementation and as a migration pathway.
- Extensive technical experience in infrastructure design, build, and deployment across private and public cloud environments.
- Advanced knowledge of networking principles, connectivity solutions, storage options, virtualization technologies, and identity/access control mechanisms.
- Proven experience with Azure migration readiness and planning tools, including Azure Migrate, Data Migration Assistant, Azure Site Recovery Planner, and dependency mapping tools.
- Successful track record migrating workloads from various source environments (Azure/VMWare/Hyper-V/Physical servers) to Azure.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep for automated deployment.
- Strong understanding of Azure security best practices and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
